Party for Protection
Each summer, ESLT supporters Elaine and Doug Muchmore transform their terraced backyard garden in La Jolla, CA into a venue for an intimate performance by world-renowned Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra musicians. Always a wonderful gathering of friends, both old and new, this annual event benefits a cause that matters deeply to Elaine and Doug: the protection of the wild landscapes they love here in the Eastern Sierra.
This year will mark the Muchmore’s third annual garden concert to benefit ESLT, to be held August 30. With a $100 per person suggested donation, guests mingle over elegant hors d’oeuvres and enjoy the musical talents of Trevor Handy, cello, and Kate Hatmaker, violin, while watching the sun drop into the sea.
These highly-acclaimed musicians will perform an exclusive duet featuring some of their favorite works:
Maurice Ravel Sonata for Violin and Violoncello
Erwin Schulhoff Duo for Violin and Violoncello (1925)

Do you have friends who love the Eastern Sierra but might not know about ESLT’s mission to protect its wonders? Every year, ESLT members like Elaine and Doug help us broaden our reach by hosting what we generally call “house parties” – events that support our critical conservation work.
These can be as simple as pizza in your living room, or as elaborate as a garden party with a private concert. Always a fun time, such gatherings introduce newcomers to our mission and allow us to visit with supporters who can’t always attend our events in the Eastern Sierra.
Hosting a house party is a fun way to share your support of ESLT and protect the Eastern Sierra’s wild lands and rural legacy. If you would like to help spread the word about our work with a house party in your neighborhood, please contact Kay at (760) 873-4554 or firstname.lastname@example.org!
